CRISTIAN CASTELNUOVO BIOGRAFIA

​

Cristian Castelnuovo classe 1977, fotografo professionista, si è laureato con un Master in Photographic Arts, presso la Westminster University di Londra. Ha intrapreso l'attività di fotografo in tutto il mondo nei campi dell'arte, della moda, della politica, dello spettacolo e dell’architettura. Nel 1999 il suo primo lavoro in India documentando il festival religioso Rata Yatra a Puri, lo stesso anno realizza il reportage sui bambini di strada a Mumbai. Nel 2002 viene assunto dall’agenzia Go-runway specializzata nella produzione e vendita di foto di sfilate di moda. Nel 2003 entra a far parte dell’agenzia Grazia Neri, poi nel 2004 entra in Massimo Sestini News Pictures, nel 2006 lavora assiduamente per l'agenzia nazionale di stampa Ansa e vince il Premio Celeste. Nel 2007 è stato unico autore per la serie Street Style del Magazine del Corriere della Sera, lavora per Mediaset e altre emittenti televisive producendo visual e altri contenuti fotografici. Nel 2008 fotografa la cantante Amy Winehouse e produce Formaldeide un progetto tra arte e moda che viene messo in mostra durante le sfilate a Milano, Parigi e Berlino. Nel corso della sua carriera professionale fino ad oggi, ha illustrato 6 libri e circa 30 cataloghi d’arte, ha realizzato oltre 50 storie di copertina e 300 assegnati per riviste e quotidiani. Nei cataloghi e sulle copertine, le opere e i ritratti di personaggi quali Modigliani, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Norman Foster, Richard Maier e Italo Rota. Con le sue fotografie, come autore, partecipa a più di 30 mostre d'arte e fiere. Nel 2009 espone ai Giardini della Biennale di Venezia nell’ambito del premio Arte Laguna. Nel 2012 incontra privatamente e fotografa il Dalai Lama, questo lavoro riceve una menzione d'onore all’ International Photography Awards. Nel 2013 ha fotografato in esclusiva il primo ministro italiano Enrico Letta a Palazzo Chigi, Roma. Dal 2014 inizia a lavorare con Clay come direttore alla fotografa per pubblicità, firmando la fotografia per spot pubblicitari di Aljazeera. Nel 2014 si unisce per un anno a Cesura un gruppo di fotoreporter fondato da Alex Majoli, l’anno dopo una delle sue foto, JFK Arrivals, viene venduta all'asta benefica Il Volo, di Sotheby, al Pac di Milano. Sempre nel 2015 è stato invitato come autore e curatore al Photography Focus, festival internazionale di fotografa a Mumbai in India. Nel 2016 ha con le sue foto ha illustrato il libro monografico di Lodovica Comello, tradotto in quattro lingue pubblicato da Rizzoli, realizza visuals per l'emittente satellitare Sky TV per la quale diventa fornitore ufficiale. Nel 2017 fonda il Centro Fotografico Cagliari, una galleria dove presenta, oltre che il suo lavoro anche mostre fotografiche di respiro internazionale. Nel 2018 inizia un'assidua collaborazione con molti personaggi nel mondo dei talent realizzando campagne social media per brand come Huawei, Calvin Klein, Puma, Timberland, Havaianas, Carrera e Kappa. Nel 2019 illustra con le sue fotografe i libri che escono con Giunti, DeAgostini e Mondadori, tra i titoli: Il sogno ha Inizio, Planeta Social Party e Nonostante di Marta Losito che raggiunge il primo posto dei libri più venduti in Italia. Nel 2020 inizia un’assidua collaborazione con il colosso dell’e-commerce Amazon. Vive a Cagliari.

Cristian Castelnuovo born in 1977, is a professional photographer. He graduated with an MA in Photographic Arts at Westminster University in London and has undertaken photographic works worldwide in the fields of art, fashion, politics and architecture. In 1999 his first work in India documenting the Rata Yatra religious festival in Puri, in the same year he made the photo reportage on street children in Mumbai. In 2002 he was hired by the Go-runway agency specialized in the production and sale of photos of fashion shows. In 2003 he joined Grazia Neri photo agency, then in 2004 Massimo Sestini News Pictures. In 2006 he started working for the National Press Agency ANSA and won the Celeste Art Price. In 2007 he was a weekly contributing editor for the issue Street Style by Corriere della Sera Magazine, worked for Mediaset and other Tv broadcasters. In 2008 photographs Amy Winehouse and produces Formaldeide an Art-Fashion project exhibited during the fashion shows in Milano, Paris and Berlin. During his professional career to date, he has illustrated 6 books and about 30 art catalogs, he has shot over 50 cover stories and 300 assigned for magazines and newspapers. In the catalogs and on the covers, the works and portraits of characters such as Modigliani, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Norman Foster, Richard Maier and Italo Rota. With his photographs, as an author, he participates in more than 30 art exhibitions and fairs. In 2009 he exhibited at ArteLaguna Art Price in Giardini della Biennale in Venice. In 2012 he privately met and photographed the Dalai Lama, this work received an honorable mention at the IPA International Photographic Awards. In 2013 he photographed exclusively and for the first time the Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta at work at Palazzo Chigi in Rome. From 2014 he began working with Clay as d.o.p for tv advertising, signing the photography for Aljazeera commercials. In 2014 he joins for a year, Cesura a group of photojournalists founded by Alex Majoli, the following year one of his photos, JFK Arrivals, was sold at the Sotheby's “Il Volo” charity auction at the Pac in Milan. In 2015 he was also invited as an author and curator to the Photography Focus, an international festival in Mumbai in India. In 2016 he published the monographic book on artist Lodovica Comello, translated in four different languages, published by Rizzoli,  created, visual advertising for TV satellite broadcaster Sky. In 2017 he founds the Centro Fotografico Cagliari in Sardegna, an art gallery where he hosts local and international photography exhibitions. In 2018 he starts working with Italian instagrammers and u tubers on social media campaigns of brands such as Huawei, Calvin Klein, Carrera, Havaianas, Puma and Timberland. In 2019 he illustrates with his photographers the books published by Giunti, DeAgostini and Mondadori, among the titles: The dream begins, Planeta Social Party and Despite by Marta Losito which reaches the first place of the best-selling books in Italy. In 2020, begins an assiduous collaboration with the e-commerce giant Amazon. He lives in Cagliari.
